Olaf Torvik is a scholar and visual artist. He has written numerous articles and essays on permutational theory as a mode of autobiography. Recent books include: Theology and Permutation (Godface Press, 2008), The Art and Craft of Shape-Shifting (Polysemy Anthologies, 2005), Ominous Dominus: How to Become All of Whom (Panther Teet Press, 2003).

Torvik’s recent visual works in construction paper have received wide acclaim. His installation entitled “Heart Like a Seive” was included in the 2006 Heartland Construction Paper Biennial, and he received the 2004 Wilderness Beautification Award for his multi-media presentation “Bark Stripped Bare By Her Beetles”.
