Mirror Series
Carolie Parker

The magical associations of reflecting surface in legend and fairy tale are somewhat inverted in these pieces, which use mirror not as a window on the world, but as a ground for fragmentary images. “Assembled” in such a way as to create fragile domains, the box-like constructions can be seen as playthings, lyric structures or traps.

Carolie Parker is a poet and visual artist residing in Los Angeles. In the past year, she was a visiting artist at The American Academy in Rome and a McDowell fellow in poetry. She curated the poetry series at Kristi Engle Gallery in Los Angeles.
