Then I come to place on the page where there is nothing. I know the importance of white space in design. I have an idea that most of my contemporaries are keenly aware of how to use this space too. The pages are arranged on the wall in groups of abutting diagrams. One of the diagrams tells me how to turn the power on. Another diagram tells me how to resuscitate somebody once they’ve stopped breathing. Should these two diagrams look so curiously familiar? Should I be able to trace my finger around the hard lines of the process step boxes and feel like I’ve just traced the lips of the person I came here with? What if even this repeated motion doesn’t help them start breathing again?
